Cleared to Play Doesn't Always Mean Ready to Perform

Guessing Your Way Back

Generic rehab programs hand you a finish date, not a finish line. Without force plate testing, isokinetic assessment, and functional movement screens, 'cleared' is just a guess — and your ACL, meniscus, or shoulder doesn't forgive bad guesses.

PT That Doesn't Speak Athlete

You train hard. You push limits. A clinic that hasn't worked with runners, CrossFitters, or competitive athletes won't build a return plan around your sport-specific demands — they'll just tell you to ease off.

Fixing Symptoms, Not Root Causes

Temporary relief gets you to the next workout, not the next season. Without identifying the biomechanical gaps and movement deficits that caused the injury, you're on a reinjury loop — not a performance comeback.

Why Boston Athletes Choose Ripple PT

Ripple Physical Therapy South End is Boston's performance-first clinic for athletes who refuse to sit on the sideline. Our return to sport testing near me searches end here — because we combine cutting-edge assessment technology with 60-minute, 1-on-1 sessions and a team of Doctors of Physical Therapy who actually speak your language.

  • Objective testing using force plates, isokinetic dynamometry, and functional movement screens — not gut feeling

  • Every session is 60 minutes, 1-on-1 with a DPT. No aides, no shortcuts, no assembly-line care

  • Custom return-to-sport progressions built into the Ripple app, with 24/7 clinician access and follow-up after every session

Why Boston Athletes Choose Ripple PT

Your 3-Step Return to Sport Testing Plan at Ripple

Step 1: Create the Plan

We start with a comprehensive return to sport evaluation — force plate testing, functional movement screen, running gait analysis, and sport-specific assessments. No guessing. We map exactly where your body is and what it needs to get back to full performance.

Step 2: Execute the Plan

Your DPT builds a program combining manual therapy, dry needling, blood flow restriction, plyometrics, and neuromuscular re-education — all in a full gym. Sessions are 60 minutes, 1-on-1, and programmed in the Ripple app so you train smart between visits too.

Step 3: Push It Again

We retest, verify, and clear you with objective data — not a handshake. When your numbers match the benchmarks for your sport and position, you go back with confidence. And we stay in your corner for injury prevention and peak performance training beyond that.

Return to Sport Testing FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book your return to sport evaluation in Boston.

Do I need a referral to get return to sport testing at Ripple?

No referral needed — ever. You can book directly online or call us at (617) 275-6022. We also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can talk through your situation with a DPT before committing.

What does a return to sport test actually involve?

Your evaluation includes a combination of tools tailored to your injury and sport: force plate testing to measure strength symmetry and explosive power, functional movement assessment to identify compensations, isokinetic/dynamometer testing for muscle strength ratios, and sport-specific movement screens. For runners, we add a full gait analysis.

How long does the evaluation take, and who will I see?

Every session at Ripple — including your initial return to sport evaluation — is a full 60 minutes, 1-on-1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. No assistants, no shared time.

Does Ripple accept insurance?

Ripple operates on a self-pay and out-of-network model. This means your care is never dictated by insurance limitations. We offer 50% off your first evaluation to make it easy to get started. Many patients find they can submit for out-of-network reimbursement — ask us how.

How many sessions will I need before I'm cleared?

It depends on your injury, your sport, and where your testing numbers land at baseline. We'll give you a realistic timeline after your first evaluation — based on data, not guesswork. Vestibular and balance conditions, for example, often show significant results in 5–10 sessions.

Can I do return to sport training virtually?

Yes. Ripple Virtual offers remote PT consults, Zoom sessions, custom strength and conditioning programming, and app-delivered training plans — so you can continue progressing even when you can't make it in to 540 Tremont Street.
